CKC Farming serves a broad range of people - if you eat, breathe or simply enjoy walking past beautiful gardens, we can serve you.  However, as an education nonprofit, we strive to provide engaging hands-on learning experiences for young people on the backdrop of an urban farm.

Visitors to Koiner Farm are given a truly aesthetic learning experience.  The sights, sounds, tastes, textures and smells of the farm are explored through an array of engaging activities designed to inspire inquisition and excitement about the living world.  CKC Farming educators and farmers understand that young people have a strong desire to learn, to help, and to care for other living things. Through thoughtfully designed farm-based activities, visitors to our farm are given the opportunity to do all of these things and more.

We believe that learning happens through a multitude of mediums.  For example, simply digging in the dirt is a visual, tactile, olfactory experience that helps people overcome fears, develop strength, understand elemental components, observe geologic history, appreciate micro-ecosystems and more. This type of aesthetic experience, unfortunately, cannot be fully replicated or embraced in a classroom.

CKC Farming aims to be a generator of self-motivated learning.  We invite you to come and explore the hands-on activities at Koiner Farm this growing season.  You will find unique fruits, vegetables and herbs to taste, red wigglers to feel and feed, plants to water, crops to pick and seasoned farmers to talk to.

The Charles Koiner Conservancy for Urban Farming (DBA: CKC Farming) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
