All 2020 volunteers need to submit their 2020 Volunteer Waiver of Liability Form before starting work this season!  Thanks!!

Charlie Koiner managed Koiner Farm for 40 years. Since his passing in January 2019, CKC has been striving to put the pieces in place to ensure that Koiner Farm does not miss a  beat  (or beet) without Charlie at the helm.

Today, Koiner Farm is maintained by a wonderful, dedicated knowledgeable group of regular volunteers!  Please consider joining our team.

What are the expectations of CKC Volunteers?

  • Time Commitment: CKC volunteers should be able to dedicate a minimum of two hours per week. Since most of our volunteers are working professionals, volunteer hours are typically between 4:00-7:00pm, Sunday-Friday, or 9:00am-1:00pm on Saturday.

  • Type of Work: CKC volunteers prepare soil, plant seeds, water, weed, till, compost, and may even work at the farmers' market.  Volunteers who are interested in our education programs and/or nonprofit management should contact Kate.

How do I apply?

  • Complete an Application: CKC accepts applications to our volunteer program on a rolling basis.  Click here to complete an application.  Once received, we will be in touch!

  • Attend a Volunteer Info-Session: CKC hosts monthly (or as needed) info-sessions for interested volunteers.  Info-sessions are held at Koiner Farm (737 Easley Street, Silver Spring), dates and times may vary.  Contact Kate to register for upcoming info-session.

  • Submit Waiver of LiabilityAll volunteers must complete and submit a liability waiver before starting work on the farm. Click here to complete CKC's Volunteer Waiver of Liability.

Still on the fence?

  • If you're still on the fence about a weekly volunteer commitment, consider coming to one of CKC's Seasonal Volunteer Days.  We host Volunteer Days for the community to get out and work on the farm in both Spring and Fall.  Volunteer Days are a great way to introduce yourself to Koiner Farm and see if you catch the farming bug. Keep an eye on our Facebook page or the newsletter for future volunteer days.
