CKC's internship program is designed for high school and college students with an interest in urban farming. Students who complete our 12-week, 4-hours/week internship are eligible for Student Service Learning (SSL) hours, college credit, or a small stipend (please note, the stipend is reserved for second and third term interns only).
A CKC internship is a rewarding and inspiring experience. Our interns learn a life skill, get outside, work with their hands, give back to their community, collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds, contribute to their local food system and help support a small nonprofit.
Each internship session is 12 weeks. Interns are expected to dedicate 4 hours per week for the entire 12 weeks. Many interns stay on for more than 12 weeks.
Spring 2021 internship runs Mar 1 - May 15, 2021
Summer 2021 internship runs June 1 - Aug 23, 2021
Fall 2021 internship runs Sep 7 - Dec 4, 2021
At the end of your internship, you will know how to: (1) compost using a 3-bin hot system and understand why, when and how aerobic versus anaerobic composting methods should be used, (2) start and care for seedlings, (3) operate a drip irrigation system, (4) harvest produce and prepare for market, and (5) identify and treat certain pests.
